Treatment Date: Wednesday, August 19, 2009
Restrictions Lifted: Wednesday, September 2, 2009

Business / Resident Notice:      PDF Notice

Treatment of the infested area with liquid 2, 4-D, which is the same chemical that was used previously, is scheduled for August 19, 2009.

Liquid 2, 4-D has been highly effective in eliminating this very invasive species from Cocolalla Lake with no adverse side effects to native plants. After 2, 4-D is applied there is a short period of time when limited or restricted use of water in and near a treated area is advised. All affected property owners will be notified of the specific dates of treatment and the shoreline will be appropriately posted in the areas to be treated with bright green CAUTION signs. The postings will outline all water use limitations. The CAUTION signs will be removed after the water testing indicates the chemical is lower than EPA levels specified on the product label. Use of the lake in the treated areas (Approximately 20 acres in the shallows at the south end) will be restricted until the signs are removed. The remainder of the lake can be used normally.
